WILLIE CHRISTIE
Willie Christie was one of Britain's leading photographers through the 1970s and early 80s — shooting for British Vogue, L'Oréal, and Yves St Laurent, with portraits spanning Grace Jones, Cary Grant, Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Bryan Ferry.
In 1982 he turned to film, directing over 60 award-winning commercials and music videos for clients across Europe and the US, picking up Creative Circle, Lion, and Clio awards along the way. As a writer he has developed four original screenplays, and his short film The Whisper — adapted from Chekhov — was BAFTA shortlisted for Best Short Film in 1998.
He is currently in partnership with Storyvault TV to develop a photography-based television series. His first photographic anthology, Willie Christie: a very distinctive style THEN & NOW, was published by ACC Art Books in 2023.
